Don't Defeat Yourself
We do it so often; we break ourselves before we start. We negate any good we could potentially do or the impact we could make. We drown our hopes and goals in shame and discouragement. We start to highlight our every flaw and failure and expect the least from ourselves.
That needs to STOP.
Our fears and anxieties will always work against us. Don't listen to them. Instead, remember what makes you strong, remember that this is only a moment. Remind yourself you have the power to overcome.
You. Are. Unstoppable.
How many times have you thought of something you would love to do, or an incredible idea of how to help someone only to begin to tell yourself "You'll never do it right" or "you'll get started but won't follow through," "do you really think that will do any good" "you should probably let someone else do it, you're not capable." These are just our fears, our lack of self worth clawing at us, screaming trying to rip us down. It's hard, SO hard, to look those fears in the face and tell them they aren't true. You can do it, though. Once step at a time, just tell them they are wrong and take some time to be gracious to yourself.
I face that ugliness inside me almost every day. Some days I let it defeat me, other days I triumph. I always have to remind myself to take it one day at a time - and on days when a whole day is overwhelming I have to focus on the minute. I know that if I can smile for one minute, if I can do what I need to do for one minute, I can face the next minute. I take time to breathe, time to remind myself what I value in me and I give myself grace.
